New Neural Pathways Are Created in Your Brian When Learning New Skills

Program Your Brain For the BEST Possible Results!

When learning new physical skills brand new neural pathways are created in the brain. And these control the nerves in your body to make your muscles perform tasks.

How well they perform those
tasks depends upon how accurately  YOU
 program them
!

For guitarists we call this 'muscle-memory'. It's part of what's known as 'procedural memory', where skills and procedures are memorized by the brain.

So how you practice is extremely important!

G.I.G.O. Garbage In = Garbage Out.

If you program a computer with mistakes and faulty logic you'll get garbage out the other end. It's the same with 'muscle-memory' and how you practice guitar...

So instead of thinking...

"Practice Makes Perfect"

... think

"Perfect   Practice Makes Perfect"

Programming your muscle-memory properly allows you to play perfect and effortless guitar automatically without thinking about it. And that's what you want.

If you practice too fast and make a lot of mistakes, if your practice is sloppy and uses too much hand/finger movement, and if you use too much tension and grip too hard, then that's what you'll play like all the time.

If you make a lot of mistakes, then you're just practicing your mistakes. So SLOW DOWN!

And dear reader, TENSION is the biggest technique killer there is.

  2. Light touch   - minimum pressure needed to push strings down to get the sound you want.
  3. Be as relaxed as you can - relax your shoulders, neck, face, stomach, legs etc. Relaxation is key.
  4. Accuracy
  5. Minimal finger/hand movement
  6. Practice every day to program your muscle-memory correctly. It's far better to practice daily for 30-60 minutes than only 2 or three times a week for 2 hours at a time. Practice every day! Or at the very least 6 days a week! Even if you can only mange 10 minutes some days, it will still do far more for your playing skills
