Recommended Play Guitar Products

If you are new to guitar and want some good advice then please read this page. It could save you a lot of time, money and frustration.

There are no magic bullets when it comes to learning guitar. It's gonna take time. It's how you use that time that will determine how fast you progress and how much fun you have.

Best to follow tried-and-true methods that deliver everything you need to build a solid foundation of guitar playing skills.

Most 'teach-yourself' guitarists develop bad habits that handicap their playing ability - usually for life! That's why I always recommend going to a good teacher. They will ensure you learn the proper way to use your hands without developing bad habits.

You don't want to do anything that will stunt your potential for being a good guitarist - do you?

However, going to a teacher is not always practical. That being the case, then these are the play guitar products I recommend:

Learn and Master Guitar
This product is based on simple tried and tested methods that have stood the test of time. But because it includes DVD video lessons, you can literally learn guitar twice as fast as other more traditional methods such as books.

Trouble with books is that they leave so much out. Especially the bits that show you how to use your hands properly. With video you can watch and learn to make sure you aren't handicapping yourself with bad habits. You learn a lot faster too.

This costs more than most but you definitely get what you pay for. The price will be long forgotten when you see how fast you progress and how much fun you are having. It's a bargain really and ALL you  need. When you finish this course (12-18 months) you'll be the envy of all your friends.

Jamorama
If you're on a strict budget and can't afford the best, then perhaps Jamorama is for you.

Doesn't cover the basics anywhere near as thoroughly as Learn and Master Guitar. But it does have some great songs. More of a shortcut but you won't really develop your skills to the same extent or at the same speed. You may find you have to go back at some stage to plug in a lot of holes.
